Madelyn Cline Gets Ready for 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery' Premiere at TIFF | To The Nines (2024)

You always talk about being sewn into to dresses.

[Team Member] Now you've been sewn in.

And you never realize how stressful it is

until you're actually being sewn in.

[Team Member] It's so great.

We're still getting sewn in.

We are dressed for the nines.

[upbeat music]

Well, hi, vanity fair.

I'm Madelyn Cline and we're going to get ready

for the Toronto film festival.

[upbeat music]

♪ Good morning ♪

♪ Good morning ♪

Okay, so much happening.

Cheers.

Well, I'm excited to see all of my co-stars.

It's been a year since we've all been together.

We had a little cast dinner last night just to get together

and celebrate before the day. The premier.

I haven't seen the movie yet.

I haven't seen, I mean, I've seen bits and pieces.

So today, we're going for, are we going smokey today?

We are going smokey today.

Sweet.

Kind of like your signature, like around the eye.

Smokey, kind of.

Okay, yeah, so we're going for like

all smokey eye which is my favorite, personally.

I'm still jet lagged.

I'm still jet lagged.

I could not sleep till 3:00 AM last night.

I'm a little bit of a night owl.

Here's your orange juice.

Yay.

So, does anybody want coffee?

Can I pour anybody on coffee?

Oh, Ooh.

No?

That's strong.

I've developed a sixth gear when I am low on sleep

and I feel like we're going

to be sixth gear dependent today.

I have this really bad habit

of falling asleep during movies.

There's something about being in a theater

and a very dark room.

And I tend to get a little sleepy

Jessica and I went to the Bond premier in London last year.

And I was in London for about, I don't know,

not even like 24 hours to go see the movie.

I was nodding off.

So very it was a very long movie.

Great movie, great movie,

but I nodded off a couple times.

It was like a, moment.

One time I just straight up moved the armrest

and went horizontal and curled up.

Probably not the most socially correct thing to do,

but I had a great nap.

I got the email for the audition

and I nearly, excuse my French,

[beep] my pants,

because I am such a fan of the first.

It was so funny 'cause when I got the script,

they send it on this app that is like, I don't know it.

You cannot, obviously you cannot screenshot.

You cannot, like, screen record anything.

Like, it if if the app detects any sort of like, recording,

anything on the phone, it'll just completely lock you out.

And so when I first got the script,

I was really, really excited.

I had the call back, I had the meeting with Ryan

and I said, don't [beep] it up.

It came with a message being like,

If you have any issues with the script,

please call me at this number.

One of our producers.

So I screen shotted that message

because I didn't wanna lose that number

in case I had issues.

Well of course, the app locked me out

and it, of course, it notifies like the producers

that it's been screen shotted.

I was like, oh my God, like I've already been outed.

Like, people think I'm trying to like leak it.

But anyways, so I had that little fun anxiety moment.

And then, I had my meeting with Ryan.

And then, within a couple weeks I was on a plane to Greece.

Just taking that coffee down.

I forgot I put chocolate in this.

You did?

Well I saw this thing on TikTok where people are like,

making their espressos with chocolate.

Stop.

But they'll like, within the espresso machines,

they'll put the chocolate on top

of the coffee cup while it's brewing.

Oh wait, I have seen that.

I just, straight up put a bar of chocolate in here.

I've, I haven't tasted a single thing.

[elegant music]

We are off to do press and I will see you guys later.

Yay, let's go cut some onions.

[elegant music]

You still here? Oh.

Well I guess, let's get ready for the premiere.

We're in a rush.

[upbeat music]

Obviously, we're going super smokey with the eye.

We have a really beautiful dress.

We've got some beautiful jewels over here.

Oh my goodness.

[Team Member] It's just busy out here.

Maybe that's a dress.

So fun fact, we don't have the dress yet.

Not the dress.

Nevermind.

The dress is being shipped or was, is, transit

because we did not want it to get held up at customs

and it did not fit.

[doorbell rings]

[knocks at the door]

The dress.

The drinks.

The drinks, who knows?

Hi.

[delivery person speaking in background]

[Team Member] Thank you.

[delivery person speaking in background]

Thanks so much.

[Team Member] Thank you.

Still not the dress.

It is a really beautiful, black,

Armani column dress with lace.

I think it's also, some of the materials made out

of horse hair and it has a little bit of,

I don't even know what it's called,

when it, like at the waist, it kind of like.

Peplum?

Peplum, that's it.

Very elegant and it felt very TIFF when I tried it on

and I felt like that was, that was our girl.

She is en route.

She's fashionably late question mark?

Wait, where is that, did your martini come?

No.

[Team Member] Not yet.

Stop.

Still not the drink.

I was like, I think you would prefer

the martini over the dress at this point.

I don't think so though.

I like, I just wanna put eyes on the dress.

I wanna know it's here.

Would you like the dress update?

Yes.

13 minutes to dress.

[All] Whoo!

Dress!

We did it.

[elegant music]

[alarm ringing]

[Team Member] Is that the dress?

[Team Member On The Phone] Hello?

Still not the dress.

[knocks at the door]

Hello?

Dress?

No.

Oh, I'm so sorry to disappoint.

[knocks at the door]

[Team Member] That's probably beverage.

I'm just gonna start guessing things at point.

Still no dress.

[Team Member] Oh, it's beverages.

Wait.

Is it the dress?

It's probably just an appall sprint.

Let's go.

Do you wanna say hi still not the dress.

It's still not the dress.

Who is it?

Not the dress.

We've got a really stunning backup dress.

We do.

I do love this dress. It is custom Lon Von.

And I think initially we were going to wear it

for the London premiere

but the universe might have had other plans for us.

Are you not entertained?

That's it. That's all.

Okay. So we might be doing the red instead

and so it continues.

Go, go, go.

Thank you.

Oh my God. OK. Okay. Okay. Okay.

We have a dress. We love her.

Just gonna have a moment. Okay.

The necklace uh-oh wait, did the zipper break?

Oh my God. The zipper broke.

I am being sewn in our zipper broke.

Time to go, okay. That's okay,

do I need my wallet?

You never realized how stressful it is

until you're actually being sewn in.

You're doing so great.

Thanks.

We're still getting sewn in.
