How to Draw a Great Looking Orange for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin by drawing a circle to outline the fruit.

2. Draw the stem of the orange, erasing as necessary. Draw a cylindrical shape with a smaller cylinder protruding from one side. Don’t forget the tiny ovals at the tips.

3. Draw a leaf protruding from the stem. Outline the leaf using two curved lines that meet at a point. Draw a curved line down the center of the leaf to form the central vein. Then, draw short, curved lines extending from the vein, forming smaller veins.

4. Texture the orange. Draw curved lines extending from the base of the stem. Then, draw dots all over the surface of the orange.

5. Erase a portion of the orange, and draw an oval overlapping it. This will become a second orange.

6. Draw a scalloped oval within the first oval. Form the scalloped line from many connected curved lines. This outlines where the orange peel meets the flesh of the fruit in a sliced-open cross-section.

7. Use a series of connected, curved lines to enclose an irregular shape at the center of the orange. Then draw curved lines extending from the center. This is where the orange sections, or carpels, meet.

8. Draw a “C” shaped line around one side of the orange, connecting at the bottom and the top. This forms the outer peel of the sliced orange.

Oranges are a citrus fruit. They originated in China as a cross between a mandarin (often called a mandarin orange) and a grapefruit.
They have become a symbol of the state of Florida in the United States due to the large number of oranges produced there.

It is said that there is no word that rhymes with orange. The Nickelodeon comedy series Drake and Josh may have proven this assumption wrong, however. When writing a song, Drake rhymes “orange” with “door hinge.”
The word "orange" is derived from the Sanskrit word for the same tree. The word was first used to describe the color during the 1500s.
