Wynona was born on December 10, 1931, in Cumberland County, to the late Lester A. Harding and Cora Hicks Harding. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Theodore Blake "Dick" Blount, Jr. and her brother, Lester A. Harding, II Wynona was a 1949 graduate of Fayetteville High School and attended Flora McDonald Women's College before meeting and marrying the love of her life. She was educated as an electronics engineer, retired from Longwood College (now Longwood University), and served as a volunteer and officer of many organizations. Notably, Mary was the only woman to work on the first Jupiter Missile.
